What really makes a massage a good massage?

For me, a massage goes beyond simply loosening muscles. Of course, that is important, but a truly good massage offers so much more: it’s a moment that is entirely yours – to relax, recharge, and find calm. A moment where nothing is required, where you can fully come home to your own body. Many men carry tension in their shoulders, neck, or back – from work, sports, responsibilities, or simply the busy pace of daily life. Often, you only notice how much tension you’re holding once you finally lie down and someone works with your body with full attention.
And that’s exactly where it begins.
Connection makes the difference
A massage only becomes truly special when there is connection. When I attune to your body, your breathing, and what you need in that moment. But it’s not a one-way street. The more you allow yourself to receive, the better I can sense what your body is asking for. The more you relax and stay present, the more precise and intuitive my work can be. It’s a subtle collaboration – gentle, yet powerful. You don’t have to do anything. Just feel. Just be.
Receiving is allowed
Many men are used to always being “on.” To taking care. To managing. To pushing forward. Receiving can sometimes feel almost unfamiliar. During a massage, you can completely let that go. You don’t have to perform. You don’t have to think. No responsibilities to carry. You can simply relax. And the more you allow yourself to do so, the deeper your body can release.
Finding it hard to relax? Use your breath
Struggling to relax? That’s completely okay. Sometimes your body just needs a moment to switch gears.
A simple breathing exercise can help:
Inhale slowly.
Hold your breath for one second.
Exhale longer than you inhaled.
By exhaling longer than you inhale, you signal to your body that it’s safe to relax. Your heart rate slows, your muscles soften, and your mind becomes calmer. And you feel this immediately during the massage.
Together we create the best experience
A good massage is created together – through attention, trust, and attunement. I listen with my hands, but your body tells the story. The more you receive, the better I can respond. And the deeper and more relaxing the massage becomes.
Your body works for you every day – sometimes it’s nice to give something back.
Thank you for the special connections. They mean so much to me.
Love,
Marc
