Safe touch to come home in your body again
Everyone needs attention, connection, and safe touch. When someone has experienced significant events, long-term stress, or trauma, relaxing during a massage may not come naturally.
Trauma-informed massage is a gentle and carefully tailored form of bodywork. The focus is on safety, calm, and supporting the body to gradually release built-up tension and stress step by step. The goal is not to “massage away” complaints, but to help you reconnect and experience safety within your own body. By supporting the nervous system, the body can gradually move out of a fight, flight, or freeze state.
Thanks to my background in mental healthcare, I am aware of the impact of stress, tension, and life experiences on the body. This helps create a setting in which you can feel safe, seen, and respected.
Characteristics of a trauma-informed massage
Safety always comes first
You remain in control of the treatment
Clear communication and continuous check-ins
Respect for physical and emotional boundaries
No judgment or assumptions about your experiences
Attention to the body’s signals and responses
During the massage, there is no focus on discussing possible traumatic experiences. If there is a need for it, the treatment can be complemented with a deeper conversation in a separate counselling session, outside of the massage.
