Triggerpoint massage

Sometimes you wonder where that annoying pain
in your shoulder, neck, or back comes from, right?
You haven't lifted heavy weights or done an intense workout. Yet, there's that nagging pain.
Well, you may be dealing with what we call a
'muscle knot' or 'trigger point' in the medical world.

What exactly is a muscle knot?

In common language, people often talk about knots
in muscles. You could say that a muscle knot is an energy crisis in the muscle. At that point, the muscle has contracted, making it shortened and thickened. The shortening in one part of the muscle stretches
the muscle in another area. This feels like a cable or strand. The thickening (contraction) causes the surrounding connective tissue to compensate.
Tension is placed on the muscle and the surrounding area, pulling on the attachment to the bone.
As a result, the muscle loses strength. This energy crisis causes pain and affects the nervous system. Blood flow in this area is restricted.

The term trigger point is also commonly used nowadays. A trigger point is a muscle knot that
causes complaints in the surrounding area of the body,
such as radiating pain and limited freedom of movement. Trigger points are present in 30-93%
of people with (chronic) pain complaints.

Trigger points can arise from:

  • Overexertion (sports, work)

  • Injuries

  • Incorrect (work) posture

  • Repetitive movements (RSI)

  • Lack of movement

  • Unexpected movements

  • Trauma (falls, impacts, whiplash)

  • Stress

To deactivate a trigger point, deep massage techniques are needed, applied precisely to the trigger point location. By applying pressure to cramped areas in the muscles, pain can be relieved, and the functions of weakened body parts can improve.

Unfortunately, trigger points do not disappear after one massage. Often, multiple treatments are necessary before changes are felt. Brief home exercises with a trigger point ball can accelerate this process. I would be happy to explain how this works during the massage.

Relaxation massage

The relaxation massage is a soothing massage where the entire body is massaged.
Using warm oil, long, repetitive strokes are applied.

The touches, attention, and focus you bring to your body, and feeling where everything is and stored there, bring your attention to the present moment.
Worries are momentarily forgotten or feel less intense.

Thinking fades into the background, the body relaxes, and the mind moves along, creating space for peace and calm. It is also a moment for yourself.
There's nothing to do, you don't have to do anything. Just receive and be.

Sports massage

A sports massage is primarily intended for athletes, with the massage focused on the recovery of the
body shortly after physical exertion, or to optimize
the body's preparation, for example, before a competition.

Sports massage helps to remove moisture and waste products from the muscles after exertion. This reduces the risk of injuries and speeds up recovery (reducing the likelihood of muscle soreness/fatigue).
Sports massage can also be done just before physical activity. The stimulating massage improves blood circulation and prepares the muscles for the
upcoming exertion.

Do you have certain sports goals,

big or small, which you want to achieve?

Then I would like to think along with you about how
I can best support you in this with a tailor-made massage plan that will actually help you reach the
finish line.

Good to know

A sports massage is not necessarily a firm massage;
it is primarily intended to loosen the muscles.
However, if you are looking for a firm massage,
then a trigger point massage or the combination massage is the right choice for you.

Combination massage

Our most booked massage, the combination massage, offers the best of both worlds.
A massage where relaxing and intensive strokes alternate with each other.

We apply triggerpoint techniques for a firm massage that goes deep into your muscles to reduce tension and stimulate blood circulation. At the same time, we focus on relaxation techniques, guiding you to a state of serene tranquility.

This unique combination of firm massage and deep relaxation ensures that not only your muscles are addressed but also that you leave the treatment table with a profound sense of well-being and relaxation. Our careful approach focuses on promoting both physical recovery and inner balance, making each session a invigorating customized experience.

After your massage

After your massage treatment, you can enjoy an extra pampering moment with a total body cream treatment of cypress and bamboo.

This intensive care is specifically aimed at hydrating and nourishing the dry skin that many of us often have. The rich cream is carefully massaged in, leaving your skin feeling silky smooth and radiant.

It is the perfect way to complete your massage, allowing your body to fully relax and your skin to be optimally cared for.
