Please note: detour and extra travel time

Are you visiting me soon? Please allow for a detour and some extra travel time. From 16 September 2026 through 1 May 2027, the Overtoomsesluis bridge will be closed to cars and trucks due to bridge works. Tram 1 will also operate on a different route and will not stop on Overtoom between Constantijn Huygensstraat and Overtoomsesluis.

If you are travelling by car, please plan your route in advance and leave a little earlier than usual. If you are travelling by public transport, please check the latest route and travel time with GVB before you leave.

Pedestrians can generally continue to use the bridge. Cyclists may need to follow a detour during part of the works.

I recommend allowing for extra travel time so that you arrive on time for your appointment.
